The Halau I Ka Wekiu Hiwas won 1st place in a stunning performance at the Ku Mai Ka Hula Competition in Maui. The Kupuna category required an hula 'auana, in which the Hiwas performed Kaho'olawe. Scoring the highest scores of the entire competition, with a 1st place win by their first male soloist, 'Aukai Reynolds, who was required to write a paper on each dance, make a leihulu (by kumu's requirements), go through and interview, and perform an 'oli, hula 'auana, and hula kahiko. Congratulations to all for performing your best at Ku Mai Ka Hula.
