Gallery Pictures now updated! Check out Halau I Ka Wekiu Merrie Monarch 2012
For the second time, Halau I Ka Wekiu won the Overall Title at Merrie Monarch, the first time was in 2007. This time the halau entered into the wahine and kane categories, and Sarah Noyle ran as their Ms. Aloha Hula contestant. Sarah took 4th place in the Ms. Aloha Hula Competition on Thursday night. On Friday and Saturday night, both wahine and kane for Halau I Ka Wekiu performed their hula flawlessly, leaving it up to the judges the final decision. The wahine placed 2nd in hula 'auana, and took 3rd place overall in the wahine category. The wekiu kane placed 1st in hula kahiko and 1st in hula 'auana, taking 1st overall in the kane category. The combined scoring gave Halau I Ka Wekiu the highest points at 1147 to win us the competition and coveted Overall Merrie Monarch Winner title.
